Last weekend saw our fifth annual Halloween Festival – Spooky Southport. This year, we comissioned a purpuse built haunted street for the town centre that offered up something spookily different for Southport. The installation opened for four days over the half term week and invited Halloween fans to knock on each door to see who was hiding behind! Each door contained a brilliant and entertaining character, each of whom created screams and giggles in equal measure.
Hundred’s queued each day for four days to visit the free attraction and enjoy the other pop up events put on by local businesses, with an estimated 5,000 plus visitors in total enjoying the experience. Families had travelled in from throughout the region, including Blackpool and Liverpool to make the most of the Halloween entertainment. Plans are now being made for how the event and the ever more popular Halloween festival as a whole can be made bigger and better for 2020 and beyond!
Sarah Rodriguez, our Events and Marketing Coordinator says, “We have been overwhelmed by the response to Trick or Treat street, and loved seeing so many enjoy the event. Halloween has become a huge event for families and a brilliant way to bring in visitors in the half term. The street has received some great coverage and interest and we can’t wait to look at how we can bring it back for 2020 and grow the whole festival to put on more great street theatre to make sure families come back each day to see something new and exciting in Southport!”
