This year’s Spookport – our unique Halloween festival took place last week. With businesses and bars throughout town taking part by hosting a series of brilliant events and offers the town was bustling with activity throughout the half term.
Our children’s Trick or Treat trails proved more popular then ever with the involvement of local children’s entertainment company Starkidz. ?Over 300 little monsters attended over 4 trails along with all their mummies. ?Businesses handed sweets to the children as they chased the ghosts around the town centre. ?It provided a great opportunity for businesses to interact with people and gave plenty of exposure and created some attention grabbing spectacle!
Our Spook Up Your Business competition gave businesses the opportunity to get in on the fun by creating Halloween themed window displays with the aim of winning ?500 or the charity of their choice. ?Tony at Pudding & Pie won the competition for the 2nd year running and received ?500 for Colitis & Chrons UK.
Our headliner event, the Halloween parade saw over 10,000 people line Lord Street, some having traveled from Bolton, Blackpool and beyond. ?With far more theatrical content than ever before, it elicited gasps from the audience. We have lots to build on though and plans are already afoot for how we can ensure next years has far more content and light and how to manage the 1,000’s that arrive in Southport for the event.
