Over 9,000 people filled Southport town centre last Sunday for our biggest Christmas switch on yet!

Huge crowds filled the town for a day packed with entertainment for our sparkling switch on, headlined by non other than Peter Andre himself!  The atmosphere throughout the day was festive and hundreds of families enjoyed fairground rides and street entertainment, alongside some superb children’s shows on stage.  The day continued into the early evening with more great performances on stage with the town absolutely coming alive for the big moment as Peter turned on our new lights and tree and snow falling on the audience.

BID Event Manager, Sarah Rodriguez says of the day “It was an exceptional day and night, with an estimated 8000 at peak watching Peter Andre and the lights go on. Thousands more also enjoyed a full day of activity, with an amazing atmosphere that really made Southport shine.

As one of the biggest switch ons in the region now, the event continues to grow and attract people from all over to the town, raising our profile and showing Southport of at its best!

We have to give a huge thanks to the performers, the Council for their support but mostly to the businesses whose funding makes it possible at all!”
