Southport businesses have been thanked for supporting an appeal which saw over 1,000 Easter eggs delivered to Alder Hey Children’s Charity in Liverpool and Southport Baby Bank.
Sandgrounder Radio, which is based in Wayfarers Arcade in Lord Street, runs its popular Easter Egg Appeal every year to bring a smile to children’s faces in the region.
This year they were supported by businesses in Southport town centre including: Curlett Jones Estates on Lord Street; Morrisons supermarket in Winter Gardens on Lord Street; ASDA supermarket at Central 12; and McDonalds at Ocean Plaza.
Others who backed the appeal included the Co-Op stores in Marshside and Churchtown, and Linaker Primary School.
Sandgrounder Radio’s Content Director, Andy Hilbert said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many local people who have gone above and beyond to help us with this year’s appeal.
“A special thanks to the team at Curlett Jones Estates on Lord Street for all their help, especially assisting us with the safe delivery of all the egg donations to the two charities.
“A big thank you as well to all the team at McDonald’s Ocean Plaza in Southport, iSight Clinics, Morrisons and Asda in Southport as well as Co-op in Marshside and Churchtown for the help and generosity.
“Also a big thank you to all the children, parents, staff and the whole team at Linaker Primary School in Southport who held a ‘non-uniform’ day for our appeal.
“In such difficult times we really are overjoyed that we could donate so many Easter Eggs to two great causes.”
Sandgrounder Radio delivered the eggs on Easter Saturday using their brand new ‘Sandgrounder Shuttle’ which they officially unveiled at Ocean Plaza in Southport.
Andy said: “What better way to deliver the eggs than on board the brand new ‘Sandgrounder Shuttle’ which has been very kindly provided by Peoples Bus.
“A big thank you to Andrew and the team at Peoples Bus for all their help on Saturday for such an amazing vehicle that you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot of over the coming weeks and months.”
