Sefton Council will be holding public consultation events to share their vision and seek feedback from the community regarding the proposals for the new Marine Lake Events Centre (MLEC). This exciting new development would replace the former Southport Theatre and Convention Centre on the Promenade, which closed in 2020, and would accommodate a range of events in the town.
The proposals include:
- A state-of-the-art theatre and entertainment space and a flexible conference and business events venue.
- A café and a signature restaurant that would provide facilities for both visitors and the community alike.
- A new Water and Light Show, that would provide a number of animated shows each day and would be an attraction that is unique to the UK, setting Southport apart from other seaside towns.
We encourage all BID businesses to offer feedback to ensure you voice is heard.
These will be held on Friday 27 May between 11am – 6pm and Saturday 28 May between 11am – 3pm in Southport Market, along with a live webinar at 6pm on 26 May. The plans will also be available to view online from 26 May at https://yourseftonyoursay.sefton.gov.uk/futuresouthport/.
