Following last night’s announcement from the Prime Minister, the Government has now issued it’s full plan to re-build
The Government’s road to recovery plan outlines the social distancing measures that continue to remain in place, when each will be lifted and the time frames they are working towards in regards opening the economy.
The three key phases for the re-opening of businesses have been clarified as being:
Phase One: Those who cannot work from home may now return to work if the company belongs to the following sectors of the economy: food production, manufacturing, construction, logisitics and scientific research. The only excemptions are those workplaces such as hospitality and non-essential retail which are to remain closed during this first step. Those who can work at home should continue to do so.
Phase Two: The Government’s aim is to begin the second phase on the 1st of June. Subject to it being safe to do so, there will be a phased re-opening of non-essential retail. The Government will set out the approach to this phasing and details of which businesses will open when, in due course. We will share it via all channels to levy payers as soon as it is published.
Phase Three: Following further assessments, the Government’s ambition is to open at least some of the remaining businesses including personal care (hairdressers and salons), hospitality and leisure facilities. These businesses will need to meet the COVID-19 secure guidelines that will be released soon. Please note, some venues which are, by design, crowded and where distancing may be difficult to enact may still not be able to reopen at this point.

Guidance for safe working during COVID-19
As soon as practicable, workplaces should now adopt the new COVID-19 secure guidelines, which the Government plans to release. As soon as they are announced we will share them across our channels.
