Registering for the Government eating out discount scheme

More details have been released on the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help OUt’ discount scheme have been released.

The scheme will run from 3rd – 31st August 2020.  The voucher offers the customer 50% off food and non alcoholic beverages up to the value of £10.  Available for use on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, there is no limit to the number of times customers can use the offer.  The offer applies to each individual dining in the party, a voucher cannot be used by someone in the party not dining and it does not apply to alcohol.

Businesses will be able to claim reimbursement for the vouchers used using the reference number given them on registration.

Businesses will also receive promotional materials to help them promote their participation in the scheme to customers,

Eligible Businesses

The vouchers are eligible for businesses serving food for on site consumption, and therefore does not include take aways

  • Restaurants
  • Cafés
  • Public houses that serve food
  • Hotel restaurants
  • Restaurants and cafes within tourist attractions
  • Dining rooms within members’ clubs

Businesses must:

  • sells food for immediate consumption on the premises
  • provides its own dining area or shares a dining area with another establishment for eat-in meals
  • was registered as a food business with the relevant local authority on or before 7 July

You would not be eligible for the scheme if your business:

  • only offers takeaway food or drink
  • provides catering services for private functions
  • is an accommodation business that provides room service only
  • dining services (such as packaged dinner cruises)
  • mobile food vans or trailers

Registration

Businesses must register to be eligible to accept the vouchers.  The registration portal will be open 13th July – 31st August..
