Latest BID column from our chief executive Rachel Fitzgerald

Southport BID chief executive Rachel Fitzgerald with her monthly column.

As members of Southport’s Town Deal Board we’re urging all businesses and residents to have their say on a brand-new consultation on future improvements to our town centre.

The aim of project ‘Les Transformations de Southport’ is to support businesses by better connecting the town centre with improved pedestrian facilities, links to the train station and the creation of new public event spaces.

The project consultation is seeking your views on how you travel and what public realm improvements you’d like to see in Chapel Street, Eastbank Street and Market Street Quarter. So have your say and visit https://yourseftonyoursay.sefton.gov.uk

It’s easy to forget that this is Your Southport and that you can help drive positive change in our town. If we all get behind its transformation, we can collectively make a difference.

That’s why we as Southport BID are launching a new campaign to drive pride in our town centre and showcase the amazing shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, entertainment, professional businesses and other venues at its heart.

‘Your Southport’ will put people centre stage. The people you see when you come into the town centre, those running independent businesses, the chef at your favourite eatery, the fishmonger, the chatty till assistant and others.

They collectively make your Southport, and we hope the campaign will connect you to them and the wide array of businesses in the BID area which covers Central 12, Eastbank Street to Ocean Plaza, Lord Street and Houghton Street to Rotten row.

We have a wide range of businesses in our town and the aim of the campaign is to help you learn more about them so you can engage with them and spend time in our vibrant town.

To launch the campaign, we’re asking you to nominate businesses or individuals from a specific business that you feel went above and beyond during Covid-19.

As we emerge from the pandemic, what better way to recognise local businesses than through the launch of Your Southport Stars. All you have to do is fill out a few quick questions HERE.

Winners will be announced at our levy payers’ event on 5th April.

If you’re a levy payer then don’t miss out, come and join us at our first full BID event of the year to hear about everything we’re doing on your behalf and our plans for Your Southport.

Entry is via a free ticket – to register for your ticket click HERE.
