Southport is blooming in the sun

Our summer 2018 flowering scheme has arrived and Southport is blooming with over 4,900 flowers!? The new flowering scheme is funded by the BID with money raised by your levy.

2017’s displays helped secure Southport a Britain in Bloom award.? We have been pleased this year to work with local team JA Horticulture and James Cormish Landscapers, who together have created a spectacular show of colours.? We have extended the scheme this summer,? funding over fifteen spectacular three displays?bursting with fragrant purple and white blooms. Your levies have also funded over 200 barrier street lining baskets and pretty hanging baskets throughout the centre.

The main additions to 2018’s displays are the new standing containers along?King Street and our four stunning giant planters that will be adding huge splashes of colour along Chapel Street.

Lord Street Volunteers

We are also proud to continue supporting the dedicated work of the Lord Street Volunteers.? Lead by Barford House’s Pauline Morris, the team put in countless hours to plant the gardens along Lord Street and keep them maintained throughout the season.? We have funding for much needed equipment to the team and levy money has paid for over 1,500 additional flowers and plants to keep the gardens looking spectacular.? To find out more about getting involved and volunteering, please do not hesitate to contact Pauline or get in touch with us here at the office or follow on Facebook for updates on when the group meets.

The flowers will continue to bloom and spill over throughout the summer and James and his team will keep them well maintained. All barrier baskets will be replanted in September to ensure there is colour and greenery throughout the winter months.
