In partnership with Sandgrounder Radio, we are excited to announce the names of our ten Christmas Nutcrackers!
Over the last two weeks, Sandgrounder listeners have been suggesting names for the ten festive statues that will be decorating Southport in the lead up to Christmas this year. Listeners took to social media to suggest the names and the top ten have now been picked.

- Ernst (Suggested by Alison Arque)
- Marius (Suggested by Stella Chisnell)
- Eira (Suggested by Peter Robinson)
- Clara (Suggested by Sheila Clough)
- Natterjack (Suggested by Ann Kane)
- Alexander (Suggested by Marion Hynes)
- Almondo (Suggested by Pat Le Masurier)
- Mr Stahlbaum (Suggested by Mike Whalley)
- Neville (Suggested by Claire Sculthorp)
- Figaro (Suggested by Robert Coppell)
The top three names on the list, all picked due to their link to the original Nutcracker tale and ballet the statues are based on, also won themselves tickets to the Southport Little Theatre’s brilliant annual panto.
The Nutcrackers will appear on the 19th of November with the trail officially running the 20th right through until the 2nd January. Participants identifying each of the statues correctly can submit their details and win an iPad mini.
Thank you to all who got involved and to Sandgrounder and the Little Theatre for your support!
Download and print the trail here – printed versions available from The Atkinson and Wayfarer’s Arcade from Thursday 21st Nov
