Adding Value Through Campaigns & Effective Communication

Southport has so much to offer. It's our role to highlight to people exactly why they should be supporting local businesses

The BID has already launched some high profile campaigns with the aim of engendering pride, commitment and attachment to our town. Southport Gift Card is now accepted in dozens of local businesses and we aim to grow that number over the next few months. Southport Independents is another campaign, with a dedicated website and social media pages, designed to encourage people to shop local, eat local and support local firms.

Stay Local, Buy Local campaign is the biggest campaign we can deliver to support local businesses to survive the aftermath of Covid–19.

Southport Gift Card is the vehicle which enables us to continuously drive the message to the local residents to support our town. It also links to our second campaign and Southport USP, the ‘Independents’ offer.

Dozens of Southport town centre retailers, restaurants, cafes, bars and leisure venues have already signed up to accept the card.

It is ready to be spent in high street favourites such as M&S, The Entertainer, Flannels and Sports Direct plus dozens of popular independent favourites such as Volare and Reputation Menswear.

Southport BID has launched the initiative in order to encourage more people to spend money locally and help businesses recover from the Coronavirus lockdown.

This is a fantastic way to keep spend right at the heart of the local economy. Our local businesses keep the town centre vibrant and a great place to live, work and shop and this another excellent way to support them.

Southport Independents Campaign

As Southport BID looks to help our local businesses to build back successfully from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we need to encourage as many town residents and visitors to support local businesses where and when they can. 

We want to encourage people to shop local, to eat local and to choose local, whether that is choosing a product, enjoying a meal out or choosing to use a professional service. 

We recently relaunched our Southport Independents website in a bid to support our town’s thriving independent sector. 

We are currently working hard on launching an exciting new campaign to encourage people to support all our local businesses. 

Business Content

We joined forces with Merseyside Police and Sefton Council to roll out body worn cameras to both evening door staff and store security teams. The cameras provide added reassurance for door staff as well as complementing the premises’ existing CCTV. The cameras capture both image and sound and help identify the build up to an incident and act as a deterrent.

Footage from the cameras has already been passed to Merseyside Police for use in cases.
