ATTRACTING INVESTMENT

Southport BID continues to be the sole business-led organisation that lobbies for the best interests of town centre businesses. We act as one voice for the BID business community representing the town on a national, regional, and local level.

GROUPS & FORUMS

Landlord Forum, National Retailers Forum, Digital Forum, Professionals of Southport, Independents Group

National

We are members of British BIDs, The BID Foundation, and the Association of Town and City Management.  Our membership of these organisations has enabled the BID to represent our businesses nationally.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we continuously lobbied for financial support, whilst providing essential resources and information to help our businesses throughout these challenging times. We have also lobbied the government to comprehensively review business rates, and to invest in the future of our high streets.

Regional

Through regular engagement with Liverpool City Region’s (LCR) Combined Authority and other LCR based organisations we ensure that Southport town centre is positioned as a key asset and partner in the region.

Through effective engagement, we ensure our businesses have a regional platform and access to wider opportunities.

One of our key regional projects is a campaign to bring a full fibre network to the business community within the BID area, to ensure that Southport is not left behind in a rapidly changing, digital age. Our aim is to provide Southport with the infrastructure to support economic growth, and to offer our businesses the opportunity to operate efficiently.

Local

The BID is an important voice on the Town Deal Board and the Southport Townscape Heritage Board, whilst also being a key influence in steering groups that focus on public realm, wayfinding, and sustainability.

We organise several Leadership Forums which bring people together to discuss business challenges and opportunities specific to their sector. These discussions have influenced our actions on security, community engagement and events.
