Our Annual General Meeting was held on the 20th of October at The Atkinson. ?Registered representatives of BID businesses and members were invited to attend for a presentation of the Annual Report and a summary of the BID’s activities during its second financial year.
As per BID regulations, members of the existing board were asked to tender their retirement from the Board. Several then nominated themselves for reelection along with several members of the business community who had stepped forward for?nomination to the Board.
Reelected to the Board for a second term were:

Steve Bibby, Karbon Kopy
Adam Yaffe, Yaffe Photography
In accordance with procedure, Dave Price will continue his three year term as Deputy Chair.
New Directors elected by members to the Board are:
Gareth Halliwell, General Manager of Sainsburys Lord Street
Jamie Henderson, Wilkos General Manager
Agnes Ng, Owner, Dukes Folly Hotel
Norman Wallis, Owner, Pleasureland
The AGM also saw the retirement of BID Chairman, Enda Rylands.? After almost four years of dedication to the BID, Enda feels it is time to step back and focus on other community projects. ?I am extremely proud of what we have achieved with the BID over its first two years and I have seen the difference a collaborative approach can make in improving Southport.? I have loved my time involved with the businesses here, but I am confident that the new Board, with Hugh Evans in place as CEO will build on the successes and projects already in place.? I will continue to support and believe in the work of the BID at every step?
The Board of Directors have voted in Rob Uffendell to Chair for the upcoming financial year.? Rob, an accountant and local business director, is a local man, extremely active in local community projects and groups and passionate about seeing Southport succeed.? Of his appointment, Rob says ?I am extremely proud to be taking this post.? I have been part of the BID for a year as a Director and have put my full support behind all projects.? Enda has steered us exceptionally well and we thank him for the dedication and commitment he has shown.
I am determined to match this dedication and am already looking forward to the next year and beyond, as the projects begin to gather momentum and have real impact.? We are already in deep talks about what can be achieved moving forward and plans for next year and I truly believe we can build on what the BID board has already delivered?
