Pubs, bars, and nighttime economy venues in Southport town centre are coming together this weekend to pay tribute to the victims, families, and all those affected by the tragic incidents that took place on Hart Street, Southport on Monday 29 July.
Southport Pubwatch premises are inviting people to join them this Saturday (3rd August 2024) at a variety of places throughout Southport town centre, with a full list below.
Over thirty venues will be holding a minute’s silence at 8pm, immediately followed by playing Taylor Swift’s song ‘Love Story’.
The tribute will recognise the tragedy and people are invited use the minutes silence to reflect and pay their respects.
The playing of ‘Love Story’ is also an opportunity for people to socialise, talk, dance, and be together with one another.

Southport has shown the world its sense of community in recent days.
Southport Pubwatch venues are looking forward to welcoming anyone who wants to come and join them.
The initiative was conceived by the team at The Avenue, The Carlton, The Auld Dubliner and Chop House Rock Bar. Fellow licensees have quickly followed suit and supported the idea.
Southport BID Head of Operations Luke Randles said: “We have been inundated with requests from local businesses, who are all looking for ways in which they can support the local community in the wake of this week’s tragic events.
Southport Pubwatch venues have come together to organise this fitting tribute on Saturday night.”

Southport Pubwatch is a collective of pubs, bars, and night-time economy venues focused on maintaining a safer environment for both customers and staff of licensed premises within Southport Town Centre.
Pubwatch is a pro-active scheme led by licensees in partnership with Southport BID, Merseyside Police, Merseyside Police Licensing, Sefton Council Licensing and other agencies.
