The new General Manager of The Grand in Southport has revealed just what visitors can expect when the much-awaited grand opening takes place this July.
Eimear McElroy, who enjoys an impressive background in the hospitality industry, is inviting people to come down and see Southport’s newest landmark for themselves when it opens its doors on Friday, 15th July, after a stunning £3million transformation.
She said: “The Grand will be classy, it will be opulent, it will be elegant.”
She will be heading up a hand-picked team of 60 local people when the venue is fully operational.
Visitors will be able to enjoy The Grand Brasserie and Chloe’s Piano Bar on the ground floor this July. The Princess Grace Suite, one of the finest wedding and function suites in the North West, accommodating up to 250 people, will open a few weeks later for viewings. Harry’s Rooftop Bar and The Sky Bar both are scheduled to be open by Christmas with views across the town and to the sea.

The Grand Brasserie will be headed by award-winning Executive Chef Alan Wycherley as the epitome of modern British, elegant cuisine.
Eimear, who hails from Derry in Northern Ireland and has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, has worked as General Manager for Ubiquitous Chip for 10 years. She has also worked as an Operations Manager for Scotsman Hospitality in Glasgow in Scotland.
She is now looking forward to leading a really exciting new project in Southport.
Eimear said: “Andrew Mikhail wants to invest in restoring The Grand, he wants to invest in local people, and he wants to invest in the area.
“He wants to bring something unique and very exciting to Southport.
“When it is fully open, there will be around 60 people working here. It will bring jobs to the local area. We are recruiting now, and will continue recruiting for new roles over the next six months as the building develops.
“We will also be able to progress the careers of our colleagues who will have been with us since the opening as we develop and expand our management team, so there are some exciting opportunities for people who come and work with us.
“We are really looking forward to 15th July when the doors open! Bookings have now gone live, and we have enjoyed a great response.
“People can expect really great food and fantastic drinks, in a beautiful venue.
“We will have a self-playing grand piano, with live performers during weekends.”
Working for the ambitious Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, owned by local businessman Andrew Mikhail, is something Eimear really enjoys.
She said: “Coming to Southport to work for a local, independent business person was a real draw for me. I much prefer the family feel of this project over the more corporate feel.
“I have been to Southport several times before with my partner and his family who are from Liverpool, and always felt it was a lovely part of the world.
“When this opportunity came up, I grabbed it with both hands!
“Visitors to The Grand will be able to enjoy a first class experience that will transport them to a world of glitz and glamour of Southport’s yesteryear.
