[/imageframe][/one_third][/fullwidth][fusion_text]The BID calls for a community effort to make Southport blooming marvellous!
Southport BID is asking businesses to be inspired to make their shop front bloom and help Southport achieve the national RHS Britain in Bloom award for 2016!
RHS Britain in Bloom is a nationwide community gardening campaign to transform cities, towns & villages. It’s supports people & groups in improving their local environment, and focuses on community action to transform spaces.
Southport BID has filled the town centre with colour with a brand new, stunning planting scheme.? You may have noted the colourful new floral displays up and down Lord Street and around the wider town centre.? The BID commissioned and funded 19 three tier floral planter to create eye catching, vivid centre pieces.? The planters are complemented by a series hanging baskets on key roundabouts and flowering planters on the railings up and down the streets.
?The planting scheme the BID has put in place, is very much complemented and enhanced by the tireless work of volunteers and local business owners such as Pauline Morris, of Barford House, and the Lord Street Volunteers and the Wesley Street Traders. ?Both groups recognise the need to take pride in the area they do business in, and recognise the need to be pro-active and contribute to improving their physical environment to help boost trade. They are working hard on their own planting schemes, with the absolute support and backing of the BID.
RHS Britain in Bloom judges town centre?s on their efforts to bring flora and fauna to town centres, deprived and industrial areas, and their promotion of green space amongst other things.? The BID continue to lobby the council to improve all green areas within the town centre, and keep them well maintained and work with 3rd parties such as Southport Flower Show to adopt the gateway roundabouts
However, the RHS judges don?t just look at floral arrangements on the street – they judge the overall presentation.? This includes individual businesses.? ?As such, the BID want businesses to support the campaign and add floral arrangements to window displays, a shrub at the shop door or hanging baskets to the outside of the shop.? Cafes and bars are encouraged to refresh their terrace planters, and put flowers on their outside tables.
BID Manager Andrew Sloman, urges all businesses to contribute in whatever way they can ??We are really proud of the floral scheme we have in place this year.? What we would love to see is the businesses really taking pride in their outside space and frontage, and working as a community to make the areas in which they do business really look amazing.? It would be a huge achievement for Southport to win this national accreditation?
?Together we can ensure Southport will look blooming marvellous come judging time!?[/fusion_text]
